Friday Favorites | January 4, 2019

One of my favorite Christian living blogs does a series every Friday with a list of their favorite articles of the week. I’ve found so many good resources from them and been so encouraged by the content they’ve shared. So I thought it would be a great idea to do something similar for y’all!

Every Friday, I’ll share a quick list of my favorite things of the week – stuff I’m loving right now that’s just too good not to share!

I love telling other people about things that might be useful, interesting, help you learn something new or just brighten your day. I mean, obviously, that’s the whole reason I started the blog! Must be the journalist in me. ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you enjoy this new series, and maybe find some things to add to your own favorites list. I would love to know what you’re into right now too, so please share your Friday favorites in the comments.

Without further ado, here’s the first edition of Friday Favorites. Enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Soundtrack to Dear Evan Hansen

I seriously can’t stop listening to this soundtrack on YouTube. I’m addicted! This is one of the musicals we saw on Broadway last month. It’s a touching and very relevant story about being a teenager and a parent during the age of social media, struggling with anxiety and social pressures, and finding your place in the world. The music is so beautiful and catchy, you’ll be singing along in no time! The original soundtrack features Ben Platt from Pitch Perfect. My favorites are “Disappear” and “You Will Be Found.” The entire soundtrack is awesome.

Goodreads app

This is how I keep track of books I’m reading, books I’ve read and books I want to read, all in one convenient location. It’s really user friendly, and their database is huge – every book I’ve searched for has been there. You can read a summary of each book, see reviews from other readers and find out more about the author. You can also see what books your friends are reading and find out which ones they like or didn’t like, to get ideas for your own list. When you finish a book, you can rate it and leave a review to help other readers. I just started using it recently and don’t know how I lived without it for so long!

“Dogs” on Netflix

If you have a furbaby, you will love this show! It’s a series of documentaries that follow six different stories about dogs and the people who love them. Each story is so moving in its own way, and you can’t help but fall in love with all the dogs. We just finished the first season, and I really hope they do another one. You will probably cry, but don’t worry, they’re happy tears. I promise! It would be so cool if they did a similar series about cats…

$3 Pizookie Tuesdays

Pizookies are one of the most delicious desserts ever invented! If you’ve ever had one, then you know what I’m talking about! It’s a warm, gooey cookie topped with ice cream and served in a deep dish pizza pan. They’re only $3 on Tuesdays, which is really dangerous for me since the restaurant is less than 5 minutes from my house. There are a bunch of different cookies to choose from for your pizookie. We usually get the Chocolate Chunk. I recently tried the Salted Caramel and the Monkey Bread, and they are both equally delicious. One is enough for two people, so I recommend to share. I apologize in advance if you get addicted. You’ve been warned. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Winter weddings

Two of our friends from college are getting married in the next couple of months, and I am so excited to get together and celebrate their big day! I love weddings any time of year. Marriage is such a special gift, and weddings are a great reminder of that. It always brings back the joy of our wedding day! Winter weddings are especially beautiful because the colors and decorations are so rich and inviting, and you don’t have to worry about sweating through your outfit in the Texas heat! I can’t wait to see our friends walk down the aisle with their beautiful brides!

So there you have it!

I hope you’ll give some of these a try, and let us know what you think!

Until next time,

Christi
